The 2012 Gold Gilded Koala has a limited mintage of only 10,000!
The reverse depicts a cuddly adult koala gilded in 24-carat gold, resting on the branch of a eucalyptus tree. The inscription AUSTRALIAN KOALA, the weight and fineness, and The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark also feature as part of the design.
The coin's obverse depicts the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the year-date and monetary denomination.
Each coin is issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965. Like its sought-after 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011 predecessors, the new coin is subject to a limited worldwide mintage of just 10,000.
The coin is housed in a display case accompanied by a numbered Certificate of Authenticity. Each case comes in a colored, illustrated box-shipper.
